Hockey
There are Egyptian pictures dating back 4000 years showing what looks to be two people hitting a ball around with a stick. Fast forward to today, and hockey is a massive sport worldwide, with the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos doing Australia proud whenever they take to the field.
Newcastle Hockey has also grown over the last few years, with nearly 20 clubs playing regularly around Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and the Central Coast on dedicated fields like at Broadmeadow Hockey Centre and North Wyong.
